Ruby is a 10 yr old heartwarming, sassy little soul who has learned to feel the love rather than see it. Ruby is highly affectionate and loves to sit in your lap, but she will let you know when she wants to be independent. She thrives on routine and is great with voice commands.
She has some ongoing health needs that weren't managed properly in the past, so she needs a committed owner to stay up-to-date on veterinary care. She is blind and will need eye drops. She also shows some sensitive skin issues so making sure her cute little face folds are clean, baths and potential specialized food.
If you have a quiet home and a warm spot on the couch, Ruby is ready to fill your life with love!

Jack is an 11-year old pug mix (we think pug, chihuahua, and probably jack russell terrier) with the spirit of a much younger dog. He is also proof you can teach an old dog new tricks!
Jack is very playful and loves tug of war matches and determined games of fetch. He thrives in a home where play is part of the routine and where his energy has an outlet. Because he is so energetic, he will need a lot of physical stimulation to keep him from being bored.
Jack prefers a home without small animals, as his prey drive (probably the terrier part of him) tends to take the lead when he sees them. He absolutely loves long walks and would love to be your walking or hiking buddy. On leash, he has some pretty strong opinions about other dogs, though he redirects well and quickly when guided, so he will do best with an owner who can work with him on his leash reactivity. He pays close attention to his person and learns quickly, always ready to pick up on what you ask of him.
At home, Jack is most content staying close and be part of whatever you are doing. He wants you to feel his love at all times. He also is a big fan of bath time so would love to have a spa day with you at home.
Jack is not afraid to tell you what he wants, but he is a little polite gentleman about it. When he needs something, whether a trip outside to use the bathroom or a bit of play, he lets out a soft, hushed bark.
If you're looking for an active companion who is eager to please and loves learning new things, Jack might be the perfect match for you!

Alice and Franklin are a bonded pair that are very sweet! They are very energetic young pugs that would do great in an active family that has time to spend with them.
Franklin is a bit of a worrier and will bark when meeting new people or dogs, he is a sweetie, but a little cautious when things are new and he takes a bit to warm up. They have not spent a lot of time on leash and need to work on some leash manners. They have really enjoyed going for walks since coming to their foster home.
Alice enjoys playing fetch and bully sticks and she will sit for treats! She is very good with her potty training. Franklin will sit for treats and he does circles when he gets excited! Franklin is potty trained, but can be a marker so he wears a belly band in the house while we are working on training him. He loves to hear the prompt "outside" and is doing great with consistency.
Both pugs love to cuddle up on the couch with you at nighttime while you read or watch TV. They are crate trained and sleep together in their crate at night.
If you have room in your heart for two special pugs please reach out to learn more about Alice and Franklin!

Dear New Forever Family,
My name is Daisy, and I’m a 12-year-young lady a delightful mix of pug and something wonderfully fluffy. I didn’t expect to spend my golden years without a warm, cozy family to love me, but as we know, life happens. So I’m writing to let you know that I’m looking for a new forever home.
I’m very low-maintenance in fact, quite the opposite. I enjoy short walks, sunbathing, squeaky toys, soft beds, couch time (with a little help getting on and off), sleeping close to you, tummy rubs, and telling you stories throughout the day.
I’m house-trained, and I’m great with grooming, nail trimming (especially with a dremel), baths, and a good brushing when the seasons change - my gorgeous coat appreciates it!
Don’t let my playful energy fool you; I do love my naps during the day - what dog doesn’t? I take an arthritis medication, which helps keep me feeling spry and young at heart.
I’ve lived in homes with other dogs, but I really prefer to play on my own or hang out with my human family.
If you think your home might be the perfect place for me to spend my golden years, I’d love to meet you.
Looking forward to our future together,
With love,
Daisy

If you've ever wanted your own fan club, Dixie is ready to report for duty!
Dixie is a spirited 8 year old pug and she's looking for an ESH (emotional support human). She can be a bit shy when first meeting, but she lives for her person and she attaches to them quickly so you'll never be in doubt about where you stand with her. Dixie is perfectly potty-trained, likes to play with toys, and insists on long cuddle sessions. It is a must. She came into the rescue with another dog, but we quickly learned that she doesn't particularly care to interact with dogs or share her people, her food, or her toys with other dogs, so a home with no dogs would be ideal. She just wants to be your one and only canine companion. Some time long ago, someone removed her tail. She now has a unique little nub tail and it is the cutest when she wiggles it when she sees you.
Dixie like short strolls around the neighborhood and is ready to become your neighborhood watch block leader with her cute little bark. She is pee-shy when on leash and does need a yard for potty breaks. Because she is so attached to her person, she would prefer a home where her person is with her more often than not and one where she is not left alone for long periods of time.
Dixie wants to give and receive love so desperately. She's hoping you take a chance on her!

Hi, I’m Elsa, and I’m proof that the best things can come from the most unlikely places — like a Craigslist “free dog” ad the day after Christmas.
I arrived into foster care a little rough around the edges. Thin, scared, and clearly having spent most of my 8 years being exploited for breeding rather than someone’s beloved companion. But here’s the thing about mama dogs: we know a thing or two about love. And it turns out, I have plenty left to give.
I am incredibly kind and gentle with other dogs, great with kids, and happy around all kinds of people. I even met a cat once (she was rude to me, but I handled it like a lady). I’d probably do best in a home with another canine companion, but I keep an open mind. When I’m excited to see you, I make the most adorable soft, woofy howl sounds. My foster family says it’s truly something special.
I love toys, sniffing everything on walks, and trying new foods. I’m also great in the car and genuinely happy just along for the ride, literally and figuratively.
My very favorite thing, though? Bedtime. I’m a world-class snuggler who will curl up peacefully next to you and make you feel like the luckiest person alive.
I have a heart condition called Sick Sinus Syndrome. It requires me to take medication twice a day that will cost about $100 a month. You can read more about this here
I’ve had a hard start, and I’m so ready for a soft landing. A cozy home, a kind person, a dog friend to share it with, and a warm spot at the end of the bed. Could that be with you?

4 yr old Booker came to PPR after some major life changes in his home. He is a pug mix and our best guess is mixed with a Frenchie. He is a big strong boy that is well house trained.
Booker checked out healthy at the vet and had his teeth cleaned and airway done. He loves being with his people as much as possible, so he would do best in a home where he does not have to be left alone for long periods of time or left in a crate. He is not destructive but does bark and cry in a kennel. A fenced yard and an owner that can help him burn energy will be a must.
Booker is a well mannered nice boy at home but seems to have anxiety when leaving the house. He is leash reactive and does not have great leash manners. We have introduced him to dogs off leash and he does well meeting them but he does show a little bit of fear/anxiety. We think he just has not been properly socialized and the outside world is overwhelming and scary for him.
We have started Booker with a trainer and a new owner will need to be dedicated to helping him become more relaxed in the outside world. Booker is very smart and food driven, so we think with the right owner and some work, he will be a wonderful boy. We even think he could learn some tricks! Booker loves a ball and will play ball all day long if you let him!
We think Booker would probably do best as an only dog, however a calm dog that is not interested in balls(he does not like to share his ball with other dogs!) would probably work out fine. We were told he lived with cats in his prior home without issue.
If you feel you can help Booker be the best version of himself, he would love to meet you!

We get asked all the time what Lara Croft is mixed with and we just got her DNA test done (scroll through her pics to see the full results!) She's mostly Pug and Chihuahua with a lot of other fun mixes thrown in! We just love her cute little monkey face!
Lara is a petite 4 yr old girl at only 13 lbs and she came from a hoarding case in California. She is very smart and despite her scary past, she learns to adjust quickly to things around her. She loves people more than anything and will immediately crawl up into your lap if you are sitting down. In fact, we honestly think this girl would cuddle with you 24/7 if you let her! Her other favorite thing is going for walks. This was once terrifying to her, but now she will dance with happiness when her leash comes out. She loves to stop and sniff EVERYTHING though, so be prepared for a lot of stopping!
Lara has done great with potty training, but needs to be kept on a schedule so someone that is home more than not would be best. She will not go potty when on leash however, so she will need a fenced yard. She currently lives with dogs and cats and lives in harmony with both. She will need dogs that are not overzealous and pushy about being in her space.
Lara can still be nervous and there are situations that are still scary to her. Fast movements or loud noises, raised voices, and people standing over her. She will do best in a quiet home that can be mindful and patient with her as she continues to learn the world is not that bad.
Lara does well in the car and will be a great companion for someone!

Drake came to us from Pug Nation of Los Angeles. He was originally found as a stray in horrible condition with demodex mange. They have gotten him feeling much better but his legs will probably always have the patchy missing hair spots, but we think it just adds more character!
Drake is a very energetic boy that seems to really like other dogs. We will let him settle in for a bit and get to know him then he will be available!
