- Be 21+ years old and allow for an in-person or virtual home check
- As applicable, landlord confirmation that dogs are allowed in the home.
- As applicable, veterinary confirmation that any current dogs in the home are spayed/neutered and any current pets are up-to-date on veterinary care including vaccinations, unless a medical exception is provided by the veterinarian.
- Able to pick-up the dog within the Portland Metro Area within a week if approved to adopt.
- Out-of-area adopters, prior to applying, please contact us to verify the dog you are interested in is able to travel long distances either by car or airplane.
Approved applicants or prior PPR adopters: no need to fill out a new application, please email our Adoption team and let them know which dog you are interested in.

Princess is move in ready and fully prepared to invade your lap. Don't let all the cuddling food you. This girl is athletic! She can jump a couch in a single bound, enjoys a good walk, and keeps up with her foster shar pei brother without missing a beat.
Princess loves to snuggle and sleep right between your pillows. She is an expert cuddler. She is also loving, gentle and just wants to be near (or on) her people. After a difficult start to life, the princess is ready for the next chapters of her story: Finding a family of her very own.
Finally she is an enthusiastic pillow-fort architect, happily helping build cozy hideaways for lounging and family fun. A family with kids could be a good match for her, especially ones that enjoy gentle play and plenty of cuddle time.

This sweet 9-year-old pug mix is smart, loving, and always ready for a good snuggle. She’s looking for her very own person to love and a cozy spot to curl up by their side.
Dixie loves being with her people and can get a little anxious when left alone, so she’d be happiest in a home where she doesn’t have to spend long stretches by herself. She’s a good girl who’s fully house-trained, though her feelings about the crate are a little more complicated! She’ll go in when asked and eventually settle down, but it’s definitely not her favorite place.
She loves her walks, too and certainly does not act her age. She does not have any mobility issues at all and is quite spry. When meeting new dogs, her little Chihuahua sass might make an appearance at first, but she warms up quickly and is soon happily going about her day with her new furry friends.
Dixie is the perfect match for someone looking for a loyal little shadow, a walking buddy, and, most importantly, a professional cuddle bug. If you have room on the couch and lots of love to give, Dixie might just be your girl!

Aristocrat (red harness) and Junior (purple harness) started their young lives by being born under a busy Los Angeles overpass and living there the past 4 months!
Despite this rough start, they are typical puppies, happy, silly and fun. Mom was a pure pug and dad is a chihuahua mix.
They are living in a house with cats and dogs and doing well. They just got neutered and like all puppies will need some potty training guidance. Their new home should be home more than not to help them get a good start with their manners and training.

Darling bonded pair Drake and Rihanna (Riri) are extremely close and do everything together. They adore attention and cuddles from their humans as well and make the best couch buddies.
They are perfectly house trained, good on leash for walks and they snooze together at night, preferring to snuggle with their people on the bed of course! They have lived with kids and also get along well with other dogs. A fenced yard with sunning spots will be their dream come true!
Both dogs were spayed and neutered and had major dental surgery while under our care, so they are feeling great and good as new!
Drake and Riri are such a delightful pair and are ready for their loving forever home.

Athena survived being found near death in Tijuana and is now full of life and ready to take on the world. She needed a lot of medical care, but now everything has been fixed and she is good as new!
Athena is a fun combo of sweet and sassy. She loves to play with toys and her humans. She does good with other dogs unless they try to touch her things...she can be possessive of her bed and chews and be a little bossy....can you blame a girl who has had nothing up until now?
Athena does not have a problem asking for what she needs.....If she wants something she will let you know! She is not so much a barker, more a mix of screams and alien noises,
LIke most dogs from Mexico, potty training is a foreign subject, but she has caught on quite well and is getting the hang of it...but we will see what she thinks of her first Oregon Winter!
Athena is healing up from bilateral knee surgery and will be ready to take home Mid October. This fun and silly girl can't wait to meet you!

Rita came to us from Tijuana and she is a petite cutie! At just over 13 lbs, she is easy to take anywhere. Rita is just learning how great her life is about to be. After living most of her life in a crate, everything is new, but she is loving all of it! She is great with other dogs and seems to enjoy having friends around. She follows her foster brothers throughout the house, always learning. She loves to play with toys and enjoys a good game of tug.
Rita has caught on quickly to potty training. She doesn't mind a crate for short times, but she would not enjoy being left in there all day while you work.
The first thing we noticed when Rita got here was that she was missing her tail. At the vet they determined she actually had suffered some sort of trauma to her tail which also caused some nerve damage to the area that handles defecation. Rita does have some issues with pooping since she cannot always tell when she has to go and sometimes she may need a little help to go. With a good diet and fiber her foster family has got this dialed in and it really is not a big issue. Just something you will need to be aware of and keep an eye on to make sure she has good bowel health. This has not affected her mobility or urination at all.

Coming in at 59% pug and only 28% Chihuahua you might think the pug genes would be dominant...but the Chi is definitely the dominant breed with this fine gentleman! The Chi is Strong!!!
Polo is a 3 year old boy that originally came from Mexico. He was surrendered recently for not getting along with the other dogs in the home. He likes dogs out in public, but in the home Polo bonds very closely with his owner and the trouble comes when he is required to share that love. He just wants to be your one and only canine companion!
Polo is on the more anxious side...again thank the Chihuahua in him! He would do best in an active home that will take him for walks and help him burn some of his energy. Being with you is Polo's main goal in life, if you are with him, he is happy!
Polo is potty trained and can use a doggy door. He also is crate trained and does fine in the crate when left alone. Polo does like to communicate through "talking" whether that be a bark, whine or grumble. He is very smart and VERY food motivated so keeping him busy and learning will make him a happy boy.
If you love a Chug, but tend to favor and understand the Chihuahua breed, this boy will be a perfect match for you.

5 year old Gordita was surrendered in Mexico and made her way to us recently. She is currently being monitored for some very high kidney values and we are working on figuring out how to make her feel better. **New Arrival**
Beatriz was found in the street in Tijuana with a broken pelvis and femur. She was also quite ill with tick borne disease. She was able to get her femur fixed in Mexico and then has made her way to us.
It looks like she may have some infection in her bone where they did the surgery, so we are getting her a referral to a specialist to make sure that it finishes healing as it should.
She is such a loving little pug and we are so happy she was able to make it here with us.

Pugsley came in after his owner said he was suffering from seizures. We also found out after he came in that he was throwing up all the time and after some testing we have found he has megaesophagus! This life long condition cannot be cured but can be managed. We are working to get him set up with a routine that works for him, then we will get him neutered and ready for adoption. Pugsley is a very sweet pug that is taking everything in stride.

Yoda came to us from a Southern Oregon shelter after being found as a stray. He was most likely used for breeding then discarded when health issues came around. His biggest issue is the large polyps blocking his ear canals. He needs major surgery to get his ears fixed with TECA (total ear canal abalation) surgery that will cost us over 15k. If you are able to donate to his extensive care, we'd appreciate it!
He is a very sweet and loving boy, who seems very grateful for his second chance.
