Meet Miss Chanel

She may not be a designer breed like her namesake, but Miss Chanel is still pretty fabulous in her own way. Chanel came to us from Tijuana, Mexico, and while we don’t know much about her past, it’s clear she’s still learning that life can be safe, cozy, and predictable.

Chanel is a bit of a nervous Nelly at first and tends to stay on high alert, even when there’s nothing to worry about. With slow decompression, patience, and kindness, she’s already starting to realize that her new chapter is all about smooth sailing and zero danger around the corner.

This little lady is full of personality and very vocal. In true Chihuahua fashion, Chanel uses growls to express everything: excitement, happiness, playtime, and general commentary on life. She isn’t mean at all, but if you don’t speak fluent Chihuahua, her communication style might surprise you at first. Once you get it, it’s honestly pretty hilarious.

Chanel does well living with other dogs, though they’re sometimes unsure what to make of her unique vibe. Let’s just say our girl is a little awkward… and we kind of love that about her.

She’s making great progress with potty training and will need a securely fenced yard. Leash walking is still a work in progress—she doesn’t seem to have much experience and is a strong girl who’s learning her manners one walk at a time.

Chanel is looking for a quiet, patient home that can give her time to decompress, plenty of exercise, and help her build confidence and basic skills. For the right person, she’s going to be a total hidden gem just waiting to shine.

If you’re ready to help Miss Chanel step into her supermodel era, she would love to meet you

If you are looking for a pug with a whole lot of personality, Bella is your girl! 9-year old Bella seems to be made up of all the things people list as ideal when they are looking for a new canine companion. She is great in the car, wonderful on leash, playful with other dogs and people, cuddly, house-trained, has energy but also loves to be with you on the couch, is fine being left alone for a few hours, and is full of sass. She's also got the cutest little underbite and thankfully even after a dental she got to keep most of her award-winning underbite teeth.

Bella is diabetic and does require insulin injections twice a day and a prescription diet. Her diabetes is no big deal as long as she is kept on a routine feeding and insulin schedule. Giving insulin may sound overwhelming but it's actually super easy and quick, and she is a very good girl about receiving them. We promise you this special girl is worth the little extra care!

She'd do best in a home with adults or older children who can respect her boundaries. She is plenty playful and likes other dogs that don't mind her vocal play style. Also, we were told she loves to swim, so get those bathing suits ready!

We saved Chimuela from a Central California shelter, hours before she was set to be euthanized!

Chimuela really loves her person and gets attached quickly, she loves to cuddle with you. She also really loves playmates that are about her size. She loves to wrestle and chase and would love her new home to have a dog that would like to play with her. She lives with children and does great with them...she is a perfect family dog!

Chimuela does fine in the home when left alone, and she is doing great with her house training skills. As long as she has a consistent schedule and can be let out frequently she has been perfect!

Xrays showed both of Chimuelas hips had issues. She had surgery on one side and has recovered wonderfully. She may need more treatment on the other hip in the future and we would be happy to give you more info on that if interested. She gets around great and can run and play like any dog!

Chimuela is a wonderful dog, she has the perfect amount of playful energy and cuddle time. She does great in the car and will make someone a wonderful companion!

We get asked all the time what Lara Croft is mixed with and we just got her DNA test done (scroll through her pics to see the full results!) She's mostly Pug and Chihuahua with a lot of other fun mixes thrown in! We just love her cute little monkey face!

Lara is a petite 4 yr old girl at only 13 lbs and she came from a hoarding case in California.  She is very smart and despite her scary past, she learns to adjust quickly to things around her. She loves people more than anything and will immediately crawl up into your lap if you are sitting down. In fact, we honestly think this girl would cuddle with you 24/7 if you let her! Her other favorite thing is going for walks. This was once terrifying to her, but now she will dance with happiness when her leash comes out. She loves to stop and sniff EVERYTHING though, so be prepared for a lot of stopping!

Lara has done great with potty training, but needs to be kept on a schedule so someone that is home more than not would be best. She will not go potty when on leash however, so she will need a fenced yard. She currently lives with dogs and cats and lives in harmony with both. She will need dogs that are not overzealous and pushy about being in her space.

Lara can still be nervous and there are situations that are still scary to her. Fast movements or loud noises, raised voices, and people standing over her. She will do best in a quiet home that can be mindful and patient with her as she continues to learn the world is not that bad.

Lara does well in the car and will be a great companion for someone!

New Arrivals - Available Soon!

The dogs below either just arrived to Pacific Pug Rescue or are on medical hold and will be ready for adoption once we learn more about their unique personalities, needs, and get them veterinary care.  You may fill out an adoption application if you are interested in the below dogs and we will get in touch once they are ready for adoption.

Pugsley is the cutest boy with a perfect pug face. He came in when his elderly owner was no longer able to care for him. He’s used to having someone home with him all the time and we’ve noticed he does have separation anxiety. A home with someone home most of the time that can help teach him being left alone isn’t quite so scary will be the best fit for him.
