If Marvel isn’t the definition of resilient, we don’t know what is!

Marvel was found in the middle of nowhere in California on the side of the road in 100+ degree heat. He was alone, terrified, and in tremendous pain. Thankfully, a kind soul picked him up and rushed him to Pug Nation of Los Angeles.

They believe he was likely attacked by another animal. He had deep lacerations all over his body, was covered in dirt and grime, both of his eardrums had ruptured and were painfully infected, and one of his eyes was so badly injured it had to be removed.

Pug Nation got Marvel in tip top shape and then he was transferred here to find a home in the PNW. He just had a dental since arriving with us, so he truly is good as new!

Marvel is playful, curious, and cheerful little guy who loves doing zoomies in the yard showing off how fast he is, and then flopping over for well-earned belly rubs. Marvel has done fine with other dogs, mostly ignoring them in favor of hanging out with his person. We feel he would do fine as an only dog or with other dogs. Marvel is polishing up on his potty training but seems to be catching on fast.

This tiny hero is looking for an adopter who can match his zest for life, someone active and not gone long hours, who will shower him with the love and attention he deserves.

Peter Pugsly is living proof that the best things come in small, wiggly packages. At just 1.5 years old and 13 pounds, this pint-sized powerhouse is overflowing with personality...part goofball, part snugglebug, and 100% unforgettable!

Peter’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. He was found as a stray in California and taken to the shelter. When he first arrived it was clear something was a little… unique about him. He had severe luxating patellas (dislocated kneecaps) that required double knee surgery just to walk comfortably. Pug Nation Los Angeles did all the heavy lifting and got Peter all fixed up! He also has a slightly curved spine, which can’t be corrected surgically. He has fully healed from his surgery, but because of his spine, Peter gets around with a bouncy, wobbly twist in his stride like he just drank a 6pack of beer😂 And honestly? It just makes him that much more endearing. He doesn’t know he’s any different, and he certainly doesn’t let it slow him down!

Peter thinks he is a normal dog and in his mind he can do anything! To keep him safe he will need to be in a one level home. He can master getting up one small step and jumping from a low height. He does best on a carpeted surface, or area rugs. He can move around on wood floors, but he slips and slides and it does scare him a bit. We have been teaching him to use a ramp and he seems to be catching on!

He’s a master of zoomies, a social butterfly, and loves meeting new friends wherever he goes. He loves his people and wants nothing more than to be close to you.

He is freshening up on his potty training skills, but he will have that down in no time. He would do best with someone that could be home with him more than not. He is crate trained, but not a fan!

In an ideal world, Peter would be adopted by someone who could afford to get physical therapy to help him strengthen his legs. Peter is a little dream dog that will have you wrapped around his paw before you even know it!

Dexter is a 1.5-year-old Pug/Staffy mix weighing in at 25 pounds of pure sweetness, charm, and enthusiasm. This little guy came from a difficult past, but he has absolutely thrived in foster care, showing just how resilient and affectionate he truly is.

Dexter is playful, cuddly, and incredibly smart. He learns new things quickly and really enjoys working with his people. He already knows to sit, stay, and responds to “gentle” when taking treats. He loves playing with other dogs and adores spending time with his favorite humans. In his foster home, he’s been wonderful with an older child and is happiest when he gets to snuggle or join in on family time.

Dexter is also improving day by day on his leash manners. On walks, he’s friendly and excited when meeting other dogs and loves exploring the world at your side.

What Dexter Loves
  • Cuddling with his humans (and sometimes other dogs!)
  • Playtime in the yard
  • Going for walks
  • Learning new things
  • Being part of the family

Important Note: Food Guarding Behavior
Recently, Dexter has started showing food-related guarding behaviors with other dogs. His foster home has been working diligently on this, and Dexter has shown great progress with consistent structure and training. Still, this is something his future family will need to continue supporting.

To set him up for success, Dexter should join a home that:
✅ Has no other dogs or someone that is comfortable managing food guarding
✅ Has an owner committed to continued training
✅ Can manage food situations with awareness and structure
✅ older children only

Dexter is a truly wonderful pup—bright, loving, fun, and eager to please. With the right match, he will grow into the confident, well-adjusted companion he’s meant to be.

Kiki is a tiny bundle of love with a big heart. At about 18 months old, this sweet little pug is all about cuddles, cozy naps, and being close to her person. She has a beautiful soft coat, the cutest little paws, and velvety ears that make her extra irresistible. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow who follows you from room to room and snuggles up on the couch, Kiki might just be your perfect match.

Kiki thrives in a quiet, low-stimulus home. She does best as the only pet and would love a calm environment where she can feel safe and relaxed.

Outside can still feel overwhelming for her. She is fearful of cars, people, and other dogs, so walks are a work in progress. With patient leash training, redirection, and slow exposure, she’s already showing improvement. A home with a small, secure yard would be ideal, giving her an easier way to spend time outdoors without the stress of busy streets.

At home, Kiki is a completely different girl. She’s affectionate, curious, and loves being near her humans. She sleeps comfortably in her crate at night and is potty trained.

She can be a little hopeful around food (classic pug!) but once she realizes it’s not snack time, she settles right down. Kiki is truly a velcro dog who loves deeply and wholeheartedly. She wants nothing more than a patient adopter who can give her the reassurance, structure, and stability she needs to feel safe. In return, she will shower you with love, snuggles, and endless loyalty.

If you’re ready to open your home and heart to a gentle little soul who just wants to love and be loved, Kiki is waiting for you.

Brook is a 1 year old Boston Terrier with all the fun, playful energy you’d expect! She loves toys of all kinds, especially balls, She’s super smart and trainable, and with the right direction could easily become a little trick star.

At home, Brook is confident, cuddly, and sleeps soundly through the night (usually choosing to snooze in her crate with the door open). She seems to find comfort in having her own space but is also cuddly and people-oriented. She is perfectly potty trained!

Outside the home, Brook is still adjusting to the big, unpredictable world. New people, sounds, and situations can make her nervous, so she’ll need a patient, experienced adopter who can help her build confidence through positive training and structure. She’s especially wary of strangers and other dogs while on leash, but her progress so far shows she learns quickly when she feels safe.

Brook has not been socialized with other dogs and while she has had some successful meetups, for now she will need to be adopted to a home without other dogs and someone who is willing to do slow introductions to dogs and work with her to help her learn that dog friends are awesome!

Brook is also available as a foster to adopt in the Portland Metro area!

Hi there! I’m Lolita, a tiny bundle of joy from Loreto, Mexico 🌺🐾

I’m a happy little girl who loves playing with other pups and cuddling up right next to my person — I’m basically a professional snuggler! My foster mom says I’ve got the sweetest personality and calls me her “little clinger” because I always want to be close. 💕

I’m a petite pup, just 11 pounds, with more of my Chihuahua side showing — small but full of love! I adjust super quickly to loving environments and have been great with my potty schedule (go me!). 🐶✨ I have done great with other dogs and I am just an all around perfect girl!

Like many small dogs I have something called Luxating patellas. They are not that bad and I get around great! I can still run and chase and jump just fine. My friends here at the rescue can tell you more about that, but don't let it scare you away!

If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with a big heart, I might just be your perfect match, I’ll be your loyal cuddle buddy forever. 💗

We get asked all the time what Lara Croft is mixed with and we are not sure, but we can say whatever it is, she is adorable! We just love her cute little monkey face!
Lara came from a hoarding house in California that was full of chugs. We do think she has some Chihuahua mixed in there, but our other guess is Min Pin!

Lara is a petite 4 yr old girl at only 13 lbs. She is very smart and despite her scary past, she learns to adjust quickly to things around her. She loves people more than anything and will immediately crawl up into your lap if you are sitting down. In fact, we honestly think this girl would cuddle with you 24/7 if you let her! Her other favorite thing is going for walks. This was once terrifying to her, but now she will dance with happiness when her leash comes out. She loves to stop and sniff EVERYTHING though, so be prepared for a lot of stopping!

Lara has done great with potty training, but needs to be kept on a schedule so someone that is home more than not would be best. She will not go potty when on leash however, so she will need a fenced yard. She currently lives with dogs and cats and lives in harmony with both. She will need dogs that are not overzealous and pushy about being in her space.

Lara can still be nervous and there are situations that are still scary to her. Fast movements or loud noises, raised voices, and people standing over her. She will do best in a quiet home that can be mindful and patient with her as she continues to learn the world is not that bad.

Lara does well in the car and will be a great companion for someone!

Fiona

Fiona came to us from the streets of Tijuana hoping to find a home in Oregon. We are not sure what kind of life Fiona had before, but her love of humans is unmatched. No one is a stranger to Fiona, she is ready to give kisses and hugs to whoever she meets!

When she is not out being social, she is perfectly content to be at home with you. She loves to snuggle and if you sit on the couch Fiona will be right there with you. She likes patrolling her backyard keeping you safe from squirrels and snacking on her foster mom's berries. She also enjoys playing with her toys and giving them a good shake!

Fiona's is mostly blind, but she can see movement. . She is missing one eye and the other has dry eye which she will need to take daily drops for. Despite being blind, Fiona maps out her environment quickly and has learned to use stairs to get on the couch and bed! Other than that Fiona is very healthy and had a full makeover when she got here. Spay, dental, eye removal!

Fiona is a sassy little Frenchie who knows what she wants—and that’s YOU, all to herself! She needs to be your one and only pet (because why share the spotlight?). Don’t worry though, her limited vision makes her easy to handle on walks, and she’s more interested in being by your side than anything else.

If you love Frenchies and would like to give a very special senior girl a home, Fiona will be a wonderful addition!
