Essential to the continued success of Pacific Pug Rescue is the foster program. Foster families open their homes and their hearts, often on short notice, to pugs and pug mixes that have been neglected, abused or are unwanted. There may be no information about the dog's health and temperament. Foster parents take on this obligation with patience and dedication. Our foster homes are located in the Portland/Vancouver area.
Basic responsibilities are:
- To provide a safe environment, food and lots of love for a rescue dog in transition.
- While PPR pays for all authorized medical expenses, foster volunteers take their dogs to veterinary appointments, outreach events and meetings with prospective adopters.
- Foster families help us evaluate the dog and keep our adoption coordinator informed regarding their progress.
It’s truly rewarding to watch your foster dog find a forever home, where they will be loved and cherished for a lifetime. While saying goodbye may be bittersweet, understanding that they are beginning a promising new chapter makes it all worthwhile. With each farewell, you also make room for the next dog in need, providing them with the safety and love they deserve.
