With a name like Bear, maybe you picture a big burly mean dog, but in this case think more Pooh or Paddington Bear.
Because of a lifetime of neglect, this boy has really been through a lot these past few months....airway surgery, dental and the biggest surgery front leg removal!
His resilience has been so impressive, and now that his leg is removed we can tell he is ready to take on the world! Bear has been getting along very well without his leg...in fact we found him on top of the couch the other day! We are in the process of ordering him a prosthesis that he can use when he goes outdoors. This will help take some of the pressure off his remaining leg and hopefully keep him mobile for as long as possible.
Bear is looking for a home with someone who is home more than not. He gets very attached to his people and can do soft cries and howls when they are gone. He has done well with all the dogs he has met and while we have not seen him with cats, we think he would do just fine.
Bear would probably do well with some physical therapy or other natural treatments to help him adjust to his new life with 3 legs. We are looking for a home that will make sure Bear gets all the best, because he deserves it!
